Marine Safety Enforcement Officer Training

To enroll in this course and become certified as a Texas Marine Safety Enforcement Officer, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be an active duty peace officer–A peace officer holding a valid peace officer license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
    and a valid peace officer commission issued by an authorized governmental entity of the State of Texas.
  2. Hold a Texas boater education certificate; and
  3. Successfully complete the marine safety enforcement officer training course and marine safety enforcement officer examination.

You will receive 8 hours of TCOLE credit upon successful completion of the course and exam. Certification records will be automatically uploaded
to TCLEDDS on your behalf.

The cost of this course is $65.00 payable by credit card.

Marine Safety Enforcement Officer of the Year Award

Once a year, to show our support, appreciation, and recognition for officers, TPWD officially recognizes through an awards program a Marine Safety Enforcement Officer of the Year. This officer is nominated by his/her peers to receive this award through TPWD for professionalism, outstanding achievements, and dedication to enforcing the Water Safety Act.
